Scholarship awards range from $200 - $2,000. Announcement of the scholarships awarded will be made in August 31st, 2016.

Requirements $501 - $2,000 award

- Briefly describe black history from antiquity to present day using and original song or poem
- 500 word essay explaining why you deserve Black Minds Matter: Suede College Scholarship
- 20 Hours of community service to an organization of your choice
ELIGIBILITY
Any graduating senior or current undergraduate who is Caribbean or the child, adopted child, step-child, or full dependent of a parent or parents for Caribbean decent, may apply for one of the Black Minds Matter: Suede College Fund scholarship. Students qualifying under the above provisions must have a 3.0 GPA or higher, and be accepted to or attend an accredited college, university, or trade school at beginning of the current school year during which the awards are made.
LIABILITIES AND RIGHTS
Neither Suede, nor the Black Minds Matter: Suede College Fund (BMMSCF) scholarship selection committee shall be liable for the debts or conduct of holders of scholarships, and such holders shall have no right to anticipate, assign or transfer rights acquired by reason of a scholarship award. The BMMSCF Scholarship Committee reserves the rights to at any time make any exceptions, interpretations, modifications, and amendments to the provisions hereof as it deems appropriate.
OBLIGATION OF SCHOLARSHIP HOLDERS
Scholarship holders will be required to maintain no less than a �B� grade average during their first semester of study in order to receive the remaining half of their scholarship award. Failure in and/or withdrawal from more than one-third of the total credit hours enrolled in for the first semester shall forfeit any holder�s remaining scholarship funds. BMMSCF may make exception to the Rule, upon petition by the holder, if absence from classes on account of illness, certified to by a physician, or other exceptional reasons, shall have been the cause of such failure or withdrawal. Scholarship holders must also give at least 20 hours of their time to a public service charity for their choice. A signed letter by chosen charity must be submitted in order to receive the remaining half of their scholarship award
